| 2007 Mexico Tigers From a school that forfeited a game due to lack of players in 2003 to a team that had it’s first playoff win in 2006 the Tigers have done an impressive turnaround. Tee Murabito is eager to continue on recent successes. It’s been a tale of 2 careers for the 5th year head coach. His first two campaigns produced a 0-17 record but the last two have been 4-5 and 6-3 respectively with a playoff birth. “We hope to build upon the success we achieved in 2006.” Murabito said. “If we work hard in practice, execute on game day, and stay healthy we hope to make an impact in the sectional playoffs.” Last years 40 man roster dwarfed the 19 in 2003 and has grown to 41 despite losing 18 seniors. “We have experience at every position” Offensively Mexico will continue to run the Wing-T. Murabito likes it because that scheme “utilizes many backs not just a few” and is “easier to learn the angle blocking schemes.” The squad hopes to improve on last years 221 points under the leadership of QB James Williamson (Sr, 6’0 175). Lining up next to him will be All-League FB Tyler Peter (Sr, 6’0 245) and Ron Majerus (Sr, 5’11 170) who combined for just under 700 yards rushing and 6 TDs in 06’. Paving the way will be senior veterans Andrew Fisher (6’0 210) and Phil Hayden (6’3 240) . The Tigers have 6 returning starters on a defense that allowed only 151 points and registered 3 shutouts. They are linebackers Peter and Hayden, backs Majerus and Williamson, D-end Fisher and lineman Dan Krzyiewski (Sr, 5’10 190). Majerus being the lone 1st Team All-Leaguer returning for MACS. 2006 was the Tigers first 6 win season since 11-man football was adopted at the school. This year will prove whether it was a turnaround or a fluke. “We realize that last year's accomplishments mean absolutely nothing toward this year.” Murabito said “Each team has new players and it will be difficult, but with a little luck, not impossible for us to go to the next level of the playoffs.” 2007 Roster |
